Day 19: Books that smell of your childhood?

Enid Blyton. Her books smell of my childhood. Here is a write-up about her, which I did sometime back 🙂

  1. Interesting. Most old books have this wonderful smell don”t they!
I remember someone calling it “a combination of grassy notes with a tang of acids and a hint of vanilla over an underlying mustiness, this unmistakable smell is as much a part of the book as its contents” (http://www.iflscience.com/chemistry/where-does-smell-old-books-come)

Kenneth grahame’s wind in the willows + smell of sunday morning chicken soup is my thang 🙂

    • Someone has actually done the science behind the smell! WOW! You made my day (now will spend time on this subject 😛 ) Wind in the willows is pending for me though 😦 I always confused it with – Mill on the floss and Gone with the wind till some years back!
